Johny Depp, son of John Christopher Depp a civil engineer and Betly Sue Palmer a waitress was born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was brought up in Florida. He has a brother and 2 sisters. Depp's parents divorced in 1978 and he had to deal with lot of family problems and insecurity which made him inflict injuries to himself. The first guitar he had was bought by his mother when he was 12. He was very much attached to his mother and even more to his grand father. He knew his grand father as paw paw. His paw paw died when he was only 7. He was a very sensitive and inquisitive child so the impact of his parents divorce was very bad on him. He took to smoking, drugs and alcohol and strayed away from his family. He dropped of school & by 13 had lost his virginity. He had become a rock musician and his first band was "The kids". He went to Los Angles in Pursuit of a record deal which eluded him. He married Loni Annie Allison in 1983. He was introduced to actor Nicole Cage, while he took up all kinds of odd jobs.
His break in T.V came in 1987 in a form of lead role in Fox Television series "21 Jump Street". The success of the series made him a popular "Teen idol" a status which he disliked. His first major film was in 1984, "A Nightmare on Elm Street", Later in 1990 he abandoned his teen idol image when he worked with Tim Burton's film "Edward Scissorhands". The characters that Depp played in films have been described as "iconic loners". Deep has been very cautious in accepting roles, only those that he found interesting and not box office success. Depp has been established as a major star with the success of the 2003 Walt Disney pictures,"The Pirates of the Caribbean". He was nominated for an Academy Award in 2004 for the movie "The Curse of the Black Pearl".
In 2006 he was again nominated for an Oscar for "Finding Never Land". In 2006 only he featured in the sequel of Pirates of the Caribbean which was an astounding success at the box office. He won the Golden globe award for the best actor for the film "Sweeney Todd". Success, recognition and awards followed. Recently Disney studios have announced the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean, when Depp will again play his favorite role of Captain Jack Sparrow.
He is in relationship with Vanessa Paradis; the couple has two children, a daughter and a son. Fatherhood has brought out the more human and loving aspect of Depp's personality, but, Sometimes he is in the news for all the wrong reasons.
